In Firefox 4 Safe mode disables extensions and disables hardware acceleration.

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

If disabling hardware acceleration works then check if there is an update available for your graphics display driver.

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.

  • Use "Disable all add-ons" on the Safe mode start window to disable all extensions.
  • Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

Your above posted system details show outdated plugin(s) with known security and stability risks that you should update.

  1. Shockwave Flash 9.0 r280
  2. Adobe PDF Plug-In For Firefox and Netscape 8.2.6

You can find the old Flash plugin file NPSWF32.DLL in the plugins folder within the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\plugins\) and remove that file.

Update the Flash plugin to the latest version.

Update the Adobe Reader plugin to the latest version.

all ready tried disabling all extensions .still crash's so the extensions are disabled .and it still crash's . can extensions that are disabled still crash firefox ? if you disable all plug-ins and disabled all extensions and reset all tool bars and every thing.. it should start up.. as if it is in safe mode.. right? so why doesn't it. if i can fine out what is shut off in safe mode.. that you can not disable in normal mode. we will find the answer

i even tried firefox Aurora, that all so crash's on start-up.but runs fine in safe mode i even tried shuting down, zone alarm .to see if that was doing it.

firefox 3.6 still going strong. so i don't have to use (Internet Explorer) just yet

Thanks that what it was i had updated to the newest graphics display drivers.. so i did not even think .that could have been the problem and older firefoxs did not have hardware acceleration that you could turn off. funny thing is 4 days about .i fixed my Adobe® Flash 10 the same way. all it did is crash to. had to uncheck hardware acceleration and then it worked now i have to wait for nvida to come out with newer drivers Thnaks
