Why can't I get to YouTube from Firefox?

Just recently, I haven't been able to watch most videos on my Facebook page. There is just a blank spot on the page. I try then to go directly to the YouTube website, and Firefox cannot find the server - tried both Google and Yahoo search engines as well as typing the url in the proper place. I have already downloaded and installed the latest Adobe Flash, as suggested, and double-checked that my Firefox is updated.
