I have my gmail fwd to my msn account so that I do not miss the mail used mostly for my volunteer work. All of a sudden the gmail is fwd to msn, but not kept in the gmail inbox

Not familiar with GMail pop forwarding, but possibly if you delete the mail out of MSN it is then being deleted from GMail. Look for options in you directions for setting up and using gmail forwarding.
