sync password is "incorrect" despite reset re/ instructions What do I do?

Sync won't accept my password. I have cut+pasted it after reseting password, I have typed it in, I have reset password again and repeated, all to no avail. I recently updated to FF 7.0. The Sync Add-On seems to be gone from the list. Unfortunately this has cost me ability to Sync to my iPad where the new password doesn't work either. Instructions on this in Help seem outdated as they refer to screens I don't see. I need better help.
