When I try to install the FF 11, I get the following error message. I've tried other problem solving I've found in the forum, but none of the suggestions help:

Solutions tried: Relaunch Finder, download from different site, download to different folder, delete plist file (doesn't exist)

Error message: The operation can’t be completed because some items had to be skipped. For each item, choose File > Get Info, make sure “Locked” is deselected, and then check the Sharing & Permissions section. When you are sure the items are unlocked and not designated as Read Only or No Access, try again.

P.S. Another Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion) user reported the same error when upgrading from Firefox 9.0.1 to Firefox 11 (apparently he tried installing the new version "on top of" the old one and got the error). You can also try the solution he reported in this thread:

When prompted whether to "replace" my old Firefox or keep both the new and the old, I tried choosing the latter. That enabled me to put the new app in the Application folder. I then deleted the old version . Problem solved.

It's odd, because your User Agent shows you are already running Firefox 11 on Mac OS 10.7.

In any case, (e.g., you have this problem on another Mac) you can try a clean reinstall:

  1. Drag the current Firefox.app out of the Applications folder and into the Trash.
  2. Using Safari or another browser, download and install Firefox 11 using the directions in the How to download and install Firefox on Mac article.

Thank you. I think it was running from the downloaded install, but I did do a clean install and now it's working.
