When I minimize firefox, and I want to start a new session, by clicking the firefox icon, nothing happens, I simply can't start another new session on firefox. I always thought I could start multiple new sessions on firefox, after I minimized the current window? Any clue as to whats happening? Thank you.

A completely different Firefox session would require its own profile.
You usually open a new tab (or window) in the current Firefox session if you click a link in an external program or otherwise try to open Firefox.

cor-el,

Not sure what your comments or instructions meant frankly. When I clicked on the link provided, my profile came up. What to do with that profile, I don't have a clue. I didn't see any instructions as to what to do with ones profile?
Yes, I'm aware I can open a new tab in a current session, I do it all the time. But, in the past I could click the minimize button and the current session would retreat to the bottom of the window, and I could open a new firefox session, and if I wanted, I could retrieve the now old firefox session by just clicking the icon at the bottom of the page. I wasn't able to do that yesterday.
But, now this morning I'm able to do just what I was explaining I couldn't do yesterday, I'm able to minimize a current session, and open a new session, just like I used to do? Can't explain why things are working properly now? But, I'm concerned this issue may be sporadic. If it happened yesterday, it may happen tomorrow, or what ever next day? If the problem were to arise again, what is the correct action coe-el?
   Thank you.

Rick

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do not click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

cor-el,

Before I do as you recommend, I am able to reload the current page I'm viewing by clicking F5. It will immediately reload the page, the way it should, and the way it did with my old computer. So, it appears the issue is the reload icon itself is not working properly? Or, at least maybe the navigation bar isn't working properly, being the reload icon is on that? Knowing this info, do you have a suggestion, or does that change anything? Again, thank you.

coe-el,

I would try running in safe mode, but being the problem isn't happening any longer, I guess I don't see the point. I will wait to see if the problem comes back. If the problem does reemerge, I will certainly try running in safe mode, to see if that has any effect. But, it seems, running in safe mode has no effect on solving the various problems I have had frankly. I guess it's worth a try though at times.

Ideato,

If the problem shows again, I will try your suggestion for profile folder. Thank you both for your help. I'm sure I will have other issues as time goes by, so you'll probably be hearing form me again.
