HDD was failing in my other computer. Put in a new HDD and transferred bookmarks (FFox. 16.++ on both) but don't remember how to transfer my saved passwords. Some folks helped me with this when I rebuilt this PC (the one I am using to send this info), and I remember most of the path and method but not well enough to attempt it without some guidance. The other PC is an ASUS G50VT-X5 laptop.

XP:

  • C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>\

Vista/Windows 7:

  • C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>\

Windows: %AppData%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>\

The "Application Data" folder in XP/Win2K and the "AppData" folder in Windows Vista and later Windows 7+ versions are hidden folders.

For the passwords you need the signons.sqlite file and the key3.db file.

Thanks, I have saved the original email so that I have the instructions next time. As we all know; it isn't "IF" my HDD fails, it is "WHEN" it fails.
