why does alt d no longer work in firefox 29?
Alt+D no longer works in FF29 for me. This happened on the beta version, so I reported it and switched back to the standard channel. Now that it has been brought up to 29 the problem has returned.

Works for me. Do you have the same problem when you start Firefox with Add-ons Disabled (AKA Safe Mode)?
Shortcuts in Firefox could also fail to work when viewing a page with plug-in content like Flash. The keystrokes usually end up going to the plug-in instead of Firefox (bug 78414). They should work normally if you first left-click an empty area of the web page to give focus back to Firefox.
Shortcuts in Firefox could also fail to work if they're assigned in another application or in the operating system.
Alt + D works here also.
Do the other two options also not work? Those are F6 or Ctrl + L
The issue reproduces in safe mode. Ctrl+L and F6 work fine.
Looks a problem with the Hebrew (he) locale that you are using.
I've installed the he language pack and with Hebrew selected Alt+D isn't working for me as well.
As nothing happens with Alt+D it is hard to tell where to check the language pack code to see what is wrong.
You will have to use the other mentioned keyboard shortcut Ctrl+L to set focus to the location bar.
You can consider to file a bug report (product=Mozilla Localizations; component=he / Hebrew).

You can also look at another locale.

It is very strange. When I first ran FF29 the Ctrl-D did not work, but After I installed the beta (Aurora) and then removed it and used FF29 again, I noticed it is working. Most likely, the beta had noting to do with it. I am not sure why. It could have been that the keys were not pressed all the way or ...
It is working now. Please Try again.
This thread is not about Ctrl+D to bookmarks a page, but about Alt+D to set focus to the location bar (like you can with Ctrl+L)
Thanks to cor-el who corrected me. I misread the original post, But the same was true for Alt+D for me. Now both Alt-D and Ctrl-D are working on my FF29 as well as Ctrl-L.
When I first installed FF29 on top of FF28 neither one was working. Things that happened in between were: I cleared the cache . Installed Aurora. Uninstalled Aurora. Cleared cache again. I was not doing this to fix that problem, but somehow it fixed it. Just before answering this question I check all 3 to be sure. It is working.
