Why does eBay always show up in the search box? I don't want this!

I've had Mozilla Firefox for a whle and have been very happy with its performance. Then, suddenly. eBay popped up in the search box and I can't get rid of it. For instance, if I type in 'Boston Red Sox', it takes me to Boston Red Sox items on eBay--this is not what I want Firefox for. Please advise how i can get rid of this. I tried deleting Firefox, then downloading again after a few hours and the eBay is still there. I would rather keep Firefox but, if this continues, I will permanently remove it as a web browser.
