There are two folders for Firefox. The main Firefox programs are kept in a folder with other programs in C:\Programs. There is another folder in the user directory that stores the user profiles. If something were to happen to the main program, the profiles should be save.

What kind of change(s) did you make?

Firefox stores your personal data in the Firefox profile folder and that data is not affected by an uninstall and reinstall.
