Toolbar boomarks missing, I can't load restore them

more options

I had to restart my computer due to some issues. When I loaded Firefox up it looked off. My toolbar bookmarks were missing from their spot. They are supposed to be there, the option is checked. Under bookmarks the toolbar folder it's empty, all other bookmarks are there. I went to restore from the automatic updates but it said it was unable to load them. Not only are the bookmarks missing, so is my history, and any reference to said bookmarks in the drop down address bar. I tried making a new profile, none of the bookmarks are there. I don't mind making a new profile if I can somehow recover all of my bookmarks. Please help, I really need them back!

Hello,

Firefox automatically creates backups of your bookmarks, which can be helpful if your bookmarks are lost or missing. To recover them, follow the instructions below.

  1. Use one of these methods to open the Bookmarks Library window:
    • Firefox 29 and above: Click the Bookmarks button Bookmarks-29 and select Show All Bookmarks.
    • Previous Firefox versions: Click the Firefox button and click on Bookmarks. (If you don't have a Firefox button, click the Bookmarks button Bookmarks button win 2 or Bookmarks menu item and select Show All Bookmarks.)
  2. At the top of the Library window, click on Import and Backup and select Restore.
  3. Click the date of the bookmark backup you want to recover.
  4. In the new window that appears, click OK.
  5. Your bookmarks from the selected date should now be restored.

For more information, see the Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer article. For other solutions, see the Recover lost or missing Bookmarks article.

Make sure that toolbars like the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible.

  • "3-bar" Firefox menu button > Customize > Show/Hide Toolbars
  • View > Toolbars
Tap the Alt key or press F10 to show the Menu Bar
  • Right-click empty toolbar area

Open the Customize window and set which toolbar items to display.

  • "3-bar" Firefox menu button > Customize
  • check that "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is on the Bookmarks Toolbar
  • if "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is not on the Bookmarks Toolbar then drag it back from the Customize palette into the Customize window to the Bookmarks Toolbar
  • if missing items are in the Customize palette then drag them back from the Customize window on the toolbar
  • if you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the Customize palette then click the Restore Defaults button to restore the default toolbar setup

If you read my post I said both the option is checked and the back up bookmarks are unable to be restored.

I managed to get my bookmarks back through some cheating, moving of files, and other tricks. However Firefox is still having issues. The fact it doesn't remember any of my passwords, I can't make new bookmarks, it doesn't remember the history of my bookmarks or much history at all, and every new profile is corrupt. The one I'm using now is less worse than the others. There's a lot of issues here. What I did notice when reinstalling that it automatically installed 34. I was using 32. I have a feeling it updated itself at some point and it all went downhill real fast.
