Somehow my password for AOL is saved as a screen name. When I click in the box to enter my screen name, a drop down box has mine & others who use my computer. I dont know how my AOL password ended up saved here. How can I delete it? Thanks!

Use these steps to remove saved (form) data from a drop-down list:

  1. click the (empty) input field on the web page to open the drop-down list
  2. highlight an entry in the drop-down list with the mouse or cursor Down key
do not click the mouse or press the Enter key
  3. press the Delete key (on Mac: Shift+Delete) to delete the highlighted entry

No, you misunderstand. I dont want to see it in the drop down menu anymore. Can I get rid of it there? Thanks

As I wrote above, you can highlight such an unwanted item in the drop-down list and press the Delete key to remove this entry. You shouldn't click the mouse or otherwise select it. Just highlight this entry, either with the mos=use or the cursor down key and press the Delete key while it is highlighted.

You still dont understand. I can get it out for the moment. Im trying to permanantly remove it, so it never shows up there again. Thanks!

Can you confirm that this is about an input field in a form on an internet (web) page?

Is this a log in form or another (autocomplete) input field?

When I open my Firefox, then go to AOL, there is a box there to login. I have my usernames (for different members) saved, but not the passwords. When I click in the box, all the saved usernames show in the dropdown box. Along with those, my AOL password is showing. I want to delete that. Even if I have to delete all the saved usernames. Thanks

You may have typed the name and password on the same line when you see this in the drop-down list of the name input field.

Are you using the Firefox Password Manager? If you do then do you see this entry there?

  • Tools > Options > Security: Passwords: "Saved Passwords" > "Show Passwords"

If not then this is a saved form data.

Try to rename (or delete) the formhistory.sqlite file in the Firefox profile folder to remove all saved form data stored in the file. Note that this will remove all autocomplete data from forms.

You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:
