Just upgraded to thunderbird 38.1.0 and both thunderbird and firefox crashed. Lost all my emails, contacts, calender data etc!

After installing 38.1.0 and closing the computer which runs Windows 7 I was unable to open either programme, error message said they were running in the back-ground. I eventually fixed this by creating a new profile in each programme and have just managed to copy my data back from back-up profiles. However, all is not well as all my calendar data and tasks are lost. The calendar data in particular is very important and any help recovering it would be most appreciated!

Sorry but you seem to have missed the point. I have already recovered my emails and other data from a back-up but the one thing that is missing is the calender data. I copied the entire profile back and so expected to see the calender working as normal, but no such luck. Where is the calender data stored and what type of files

No you have recovered from a backup that was probably not complete, hence no calendar data. Revert to using the profile you were using with your data in it is the best solution.

Really creating a new profile as you have done is a poor solution to your original issue and has created this one.
