Thunderbird is stuck Not Responding. including in safe mode. (win7) SOLVED by disabling Windows prefetch and superfetch services
Thunderbird is stuck in "Not Responding" mode. I've tried various fixes suggested on the web, such as rebooting in safe mode, using Thunderfix, and excepting out the Thunderbird folders from virus scans, but nothing works. FYI, my antivirus is Norton Internet Security. I hope someone can help. Thanks.

Dear Wayne, Many thanks for your response; I appreciate it. I followed the steps you suggested. I also disabled the Windows prefetch and superfetch services, which seemed to be slowing down my system generally. After taking these steps, it looks like TB is running OK now. Many thanks again. Regards, David
dmzucker,
Thanks for letting us know that disabling the Windows prefetch and superfetch services helped. That's a very unusual solution.
Is it still working? How did you find that idea? And, did safe mode help too?
Yes, it is still working. I found out about disabling prefetch and superfetch via a web search on things that slow a computer down. Safe mode helped also. Thanks again for your help
