Back Arrow Not Taking Me To Where I Left Off On Previous Page

more options

I wanted to report a bug that I have noticed since updating to 48.0 that has popped up. Now before you tell me I have cleared my cache and it still happens. What I am seeing is when I am scrolling down a page on a website that maybe has a list of links to click on and read and I see something interesting I click on a link to go there. When I am done at the link that I had clicked on I then click on the back arrow of my browser to go back to original page I was on but when I do it no longer takes me back to where I left off originally on that page. Now I am having to scroll back down the page to find where I left off at. This is really becoming aggravating to keep doing this. This does not happen on any certain website as I see it on all site like this. Would you please be so kind as to look into as why this is now happening.

I bypass this by opening the new link in another tab or window. Once I am done, I close that and am back to where I started.

Thank you for your response but I am doing that now but my point by asking my question is that I should not have to use a work around like this. Firefox should be taking me back to where I left off like it has done in the past up until now.

As you know, this means reloading that page. And in some cases, a web page changes its content. So the page you were on is no longer available, thus loading a new page.

I know that and by no means am I a computer illiterate but why is this all of a sudden happening when it did not do what I am describing above before I updated to 48.0.

Just wondering are you both saying this is a change in Firefox 48 ?

Fred is it a regression or some documented or expected change ?

I always used 'open new tab.'

This did not start happening until I updated to 48.0. When you go back to a previous page via the back arrow the scroll bar is not longer in the same position as it was.
