FF freezes when using Gmail in Win 7 and Win10

Latest FF freezes in Gmail at least once a day on both Win 7 and Win 10 PCs. No error message, just freezes, have to close FF. Does not happen using Chrome. Started after latest version update. Also, slower since latest update.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

Appreciate the suggestion. As it is not a constant but intermittent, I will utilize FF and keep the note handy and see over a few days what happens. It appears that in safe mode it does not happen but I will wait a few days to see what develops. Thanks. G
