when i close firefox it still remains open in the background,how do i make it close for real?

Use one of these to close Firefox if you are currently doing that by clicking the close X on the Firefox title bar.

  • "3-bar" menu button -> Exit (Power button)
  • Windows: File -> Exit
  • Mac: Firefox -> Quit Firefox
  • Linux: File -> Quit

You can check the Windows Task Manager to see if there are remaining Firefox processes left after you close Firefox. Note that it can take some seconds to fully close Firefox especially when you clear personal data when you close Firefox (Options -> Privacy: Clear history when Firefox closes).
