There used to be an extension to edit saved passwords, but it no longer works after Firefox 57. The developer says there is no API to get the extension working. Is there anyway to add a saved password to Firefox now?

you do not. Try Last Pass https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/lastpass-password-manager/

How unfortunate. Thanks for the reply Pkshadow.

I've tried Last Pass before but I don't trust their security model. When it comes to browser integration I really only trust the browser maker themselves :). I wish LastPass had a better desktop client.

This doesn't fix my issue, but from your reply it sounds like I'm out of luck

It has it's default password stuff when you go to a login page and enter the info you can save it. You can delete the info, just can not manually change it and that is for your protection I would think.

There are other Password Managers  : https://mozilla.github.io/extension-finder/

You would have to visit that website and login to make Firefox ask to store the username and password. In the Firefox Password Manager you can only edit username and password entries of stored login data, but you can't add a new login.
