hi all

I have a firefox account and have successfully linked it to a hotmail account. Every 10 days or so the mozilla sync and save account seems to log out. I get an orange message saying please login. When i do all my saved websites and passwords are gone, yet the boxes are ticked to save and store these. Why do they keep losing all the details and logging out. I did notice today that a google chrome login was stored in the saved password history nothing to do with me. There were only 3 saved logins in the saved area mozilla account, hotmail and a google chrome i dont recognise. I have reset a new password to the mozilla acoount now via my hotmail account but how do i stop the sync and save losing all these websites and saved passwords please

Firefox uses the "chrome://" protocol to access its internal files and use chrome in other cases like userChrome.css (no relation with Google Chrome), so do not get confused.

Firefox stores the Sync credentials under the chrome://FirefoxAccounts entry in the Firefox Password Manager in JSON format. If you remove this entry then Sync can't login and you will have to reconnect to the account. There is also the signedInUser.json file in the profile folder.

This shouldn't lead to dataloss though, so if you experience that then it sounds that something else goes wrong. Dataloss on the Sync server would only happen if you change the password of the Sync account.

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.
