Thunderbird is not getting all of my mail from the server

more options

I have just moved from Eudora to Thunderbird. I get all my mail from my ISP but most of it is forwarded to them by Yahoo and others. I have never had a problem in the 20+ years I used Eudora, but now I find that Thunderbird is only acquiring a small fraction of the mail on my ISP. One message it has not downloaded is mozilla's help question confirmation message about another question I had.

when you explain exactly how you have configured your server to get mail from other accounts and where they are stored ion the server, perhaps an answer to your question can be formulated. normally folk simply configure all their accounts in the mail client and let it consolidate the mail.

That you are having issues and messing with the location of the profile at the some time does not bode well. It is also symptomatic of ex Eudora users.

How about you allow yourself time to get used to different software before you start on reconfiguring everything. Approach the issues one at a time. This question is about basic configuration, but you observed it only after you started more advanced stuff like personalizing the storage location. Having been a Eudora user you will be used to many thing that no longer exist. Manually editing profile files is one of the things Eudora apparently invited. Thunderbird is just as likely to crash on such activity.

Thank you for your reply. I am unfamiliar with much of the terminology, which has caused me problems. I actually need only one account since all of my accounts forward my mail to one mailbox at my ISP, which is were I almost always get it, so I only need Thunderbird to deal with that account. But I almost never use the ISP as my address, and want people to receive my mail showing only one of my yahoo or gmail addresses. I actually have more than one of each, but all forward to one inbox at my ISP. In trying to set things up I managed to create several accounts, although they all use the same connection data. Can I get rid of those accounts while being able to send mail as from different addresses, which is a snap with Eudora personalities?
