When I'm downloading a file and the 'save as' box appears ,I want to rename the file but it's not working ,I try to copy paste with ctrl-c/ctrl-v or just right click and I really need to be able to rename the files in the moment of the download. This is only happening when I try to rename files after I download them from the internet.

First, have you set Firefox to always ask you where to save downloads? That may be necessary to rename files that start downloading automatically, instead of when you use

right-click > Save [item] As...

That setting is on the Options page as described here: Where to find and manage downloaded files in Firefox (the "Change where downloads are saved" section).

Once you have that set up, you should be able to edit the name in the Windows file browsing dialog that pops up. I'm attaching a screenshot for reference.

Actually, that article might not be clear enough. Start here:

  • Windows: "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options
  • Mac: "3-bar" menu button (or Firefox menu) > Preferences
  • Linux: "3-bar" menu button (or Edit menu) > Preferences
  • Any system: type or paste about:preferences into the address bar and press Enter/Return to load it

In the search box at the top of the page, type downlo and Firefox should filter to the "Downloads" section. Then you can change from using a predefined folder to "Ask me every time" (see attached screenshot).

Yes,I know this, but after I am asked where to save the document in that same box I am also allowed to rename it and I can't.

What happens -- does the keyboard play dead when you try to edit the name? Or does the Save button become disabled? Or is the error after you click Save with an edited name?

I can't edit the document's name before I click save.
