August 4 my verizon.net email on thunderbird stopped receiving new mail. I keep getting server rejected login information. I resubmitted my password and still got same message. I manually reconfigured pop3 and even manually configured imap but both failed. I then deleted the account and same error when I tried to reinstall it. I then used Firefox to log into aol.com and used by verizon id and password to access it that way and it worked and my mail since august 4 has been retrieved.

What has changed that I can't access my verizon mail via thunderbird? Since I can't contact AOL, I wonder if anyone else might have an anwser?
Thanks for any help you might give

Use app passwords for Verizon accounts:

Thanks for the info, but my wife's PC also has my verizon.net email and when I try to get the email from her PC it fails with the same error. Not sure how thunderbird works, but there must be a different path going from thunderbird to aol than coming from the aol website since it works using firefox logging onto aol.com.

Instructions are given in the link in my first reply: login to the AOL website with your Verizon account and password, create an app password for TB, remove the Verizon passwords from Saved Passwords in TB, restart TB and enter the app password when prompted for a password, check the box to save it in Saved Passwords.

Changed password and entered new one when asked and got same error.

Think I'll stop using thunderbird for my verizon email and get it from the aol.com
