Hi. I Have a Dell Latitude E6430ATG and I am running Windows 10 and I loaded a 2016 version of MS Office and suddenly Firefox shows no pages -- everything is white except for the address bar and, when I try to open any web pages, tabs at the top of the page. Any web page (as supposedly indicated in the address bar) is completely blank -- just white space. The "Open Application Menu" button is there and I get the drop down menu, but the only things I can access are Bookmarks, History, More Tools and Help. Cannot access Passwords or Add-ons and themes. I did a Malwarebytes search and found no problems. I uninstalled everything (Firefox and Mozilla Maintenance Service), deleted both files/folders, and, using MS Edge (which does load all web pages), downloaded a new Firefox Installer and, supposedly, Firefox went through the installation process and said it was installed. I clicked on the con on my desktop and Firefox open with same result -- address bar and (once I type in or select a suggested web address) tabs at top, but no web pages load and Open Application Menu only gives me access to Bookmarks, History, More Tools and Help. I am stumped. Is there anything in Windows I need to disable/enable to get my example of Firefox to work? If you need more info to suggest solutions, just ask. I am no tech wizard, so please be patient. Thanks.

You can check for issues caused by a corrupted or incomplete Visual C++ installation that is missing runtime components (Redistributable Packages) required by Firefox, especially VCRUNTIME140_1.dll.

Install both 32-bit and 64-bit "Visual Studio 2015, 2017 and 2019" downloads, (x86: vc_redist.x86.exe and x64: vc_redist.x64.exe) from https://support.microsoft.com/help/2977003/the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads

You may not need the latter (32-bit version) if you use 64-bit Firefox. You may have to reboot the computer. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ In another thread, a user reported that a recent update of Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit (version 415) may be causing symptoms similar to the VC Runtime problem. If you have MBAE, it should have a setting to exempt Firefox. You could test whether that makes any difference.

Some problems occur when your Internet security program was set to trust the previous version of Firefox, but no longer recognizes your updated version as trusted. Now how to fix the problem: To allow Firefox to connect to the Internet again;

  • Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (i.e. you are running the latest version).
  • Remove Firefox from your program's list of trusted or recognized programs. For detailed instructions, see

Configure firewalls so that Firefox can access the Internet. {web link}

@FedMcD: You, sir, are a master of this area of knowledge. Your identification of this problem was a complete bullseye and your suggested fix (which even someone with limited technical knowledge such as I could understand and do) worked out perfectly. Everything is working properly again, and for that I sincerely thank you for your help.

I apologize for not mentioning that the problem was , indeed, a VCRUNTIME140_1.dll error (I know because the error message actually appeared when I tried to open Firefox before a second removal and re-installation) -- the problem @FredMcD identified from my description. Thank you again.
