3 days ago was our last Firefox update. Since then we've had 2 virus attacks (0ne 30 min ago) MS Security Essentials had to stop. We had to shut down and restart Windows 7 to continue. Did the last update open a portal for virus attacks? Our last attack was in 2011 and Norton failed to stop it. Had to redownload Windows 7 and download MS Security Essentials. Worked great and we get Essentials updates @ 2-5 days.

This may be the only thread on claims to get viruses after updating to Firefox 97.0 since it was released Feb 8.

If your claim was true then it would be a hot topic of discussion here, at independent mozillaZine and elsewhere.

So what is the so called viruses that were found?. Was it a PUP, tracking cookies or found in the Firefox Cache. If the so called viruses were found in the Cache then it is harmless if left alone to be deleted or overwritten. Old article Firefox cache file was infected with a virus

Over the years every so often some antivirus clients have done false positives after a new Firefox version update or install and then the AV had to get definition updates.

Thanks for the reply. I recall the 1st virus, before removal, was a Trojan per MS Security Essentials. I just now checked the MS Essentials history and for today 2/13/22 the following Trojan made 2 attacks--Trojan:HTML/Redirector.CD!eml I hope this does not happen again. Is it a coincidence it started after the last Firefox update after 10 years of no attacks?
