Hello! Recently I experienced some massive issues with my pc and it needed service, it was uncovered that my drives crashed and the data is gone, they tried to restore it but its all corrupted therefore I cant get my bookmarks back in file form.

My account was synched so all my bookmarks surely are in cloud, today I got the pc back from repair, but my account only syncs bookmarks from the spare pc I used during the repair time and those bookmarks are outdated by two years, the pc which went under repair does pop up in the logged in devices list, so all the bookmarks that were there gotta be stored in the cloud, can you help me recover them?

Best regards Sarah

Sync isn't a Cloud backup nor is it backup system-it's main purpose is to sync between devices with the sync server to sync between devices. Unfortunately to maintain a backup is the use the Firefox backup instructions for profile, data, login backup to insure the data can be imported back into Firefox. This is method to restore the data back. The 2 year listed is the access is has no bearing on the sync server data when you synced back with Firefox browser again any data that was on sync server was replaced and there is no data at that point to find.

Hi Sarah, could you install the About Sync extension:

https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/about-sync/

After installation, you can type or paste about:sync in the address bar and press Enter to load that new page.

This page should show the bookmarks that are in the Sync cloud, contributed by any device that has Sync'd. In the bookmarks section of the page, if you check the "Records" table-format listing, can you see the missing bookmarks there?

Hi jscher2000, Thank you very much for your help, I appreciate it! Unfortunately the current version of About Sync isn't compatible with the current version of Firefox, but I seen it got updated for the last time yesterday, so I'll wait until the author has updated it again for current version (see attachment) - I'm not sure if there is a workaround for it, but I don't mind waiting until it gets an update.

I'll reply here again once I'm able to give it a try. I would cry tears of joy if this extension can grab the old bookmarks and restore them.

Best regards Sarah

Oh, this is confusing. I guess there was a change in the Add-ons site. You used to be see Install buttons below each old version but now they say "Download file":

https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/about-sync/versions/

I think they actually still work despite the wording change. Can you try the one for Firefox 114 and later? Screenshot attached for reference.

This version of the extension worked! Either it can't find the data from 24 Days ago, or for some reason, which I got no explanation for, I had Firefox synced disabled on my PC. So if that is the case, I think I'm probably out of luck and the only thing Firefox showed me is the login from that date.

In any case, I really appreciate your time in trying to help me solve this unfortunate issue. :)
