Firefox 4 hanging on exit - when will this be fixed?
FF 4 hanging when trying to exit. Only way to end it is to end process via task manager.
I understand mozilla are aware of the problem but when is a fix likely to appear? Hopefully soon otherwise I will be reverting to 3.6.
Never had a problem with FF before and I'm a long time user of many years. I really hope this is not a sign of things to come. So many times I've seen great lightweight programs which 'just work' get too adventurous and end up being over developed buggy bloatware.

Incidentally, your Java installation is out of date which potentially exposes your system to attack.

Ok thanks Xircal, have now updated.
Does it still hang?
Worst if anything. Also forgot to say, FF also freezes when I try to minimize which is not acceptable. Had to end via task manager over ten times at least today so going back to old version.
Could you please download the free version of Malwarebytes from http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free and run a full system scan to eliminate malware as the culprit as is often the case.
Thanks but already running Malwarebytes along with avast and comodo. FF 3 ran pefect, FF 4 freezes. Rest of PC is running just fine, the only thing thats changed is that FF4 was installed and therefore the issue is with FF4 itself.
Either way really not that fussed as simply uninstalled and now running FF3.6.17 which is running perfectly. Got no time for buggy, untested software and its not just me thats having this issue as many others reported same. I'll try FF4 again in few months when hopefully bugs have been ironed out.
Thank you.
FF5 will be released on June 21.
To ensure a clean installation of 3.6.17, please do the following.
Go to Download Firefox v3.6.17 and download it to the desktop.
Then go to Add/Remove Programs, scroll down to "Mozilla Firefox" and remove it, choosing to keep your bookmarks, customizations etc., (don't checkmark the box).
Then reboot and delete the folder called "Mozilla Firefox" at this location: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
Finally run the installation file you downloaded to the desktop earlier.
Your bookmarks, customizations etc., are maintained in a different location and will become available to you again once you complete the installation.
Thanks man, already installed but that should help others.
You're welcome.
