After reading some of the forum questions, I wonder if I should even install Firefox 4.0. The version I have now says it's no longer protected but can I keep using it?

When I tried to install Firefox 4.0, it wouldn't let me get to Step 2 after downloading it. I have all these downloads of it but can't get it to work.

I am not sure which is step 2, since I have no idea what page you are reading for the instructions. Perhaps this page is a bit clearer: https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Installing%20Firefox%20on%20Mac

That page mentions a bug in Leopard which prevents ejection of the disk image. You can eject by using Disk Utility.
