I updated to 8.0 and now NOTHING works. FF tries to open and then I get an immediate crash report so I cannot open in safe mode. I tried to uninstall and reinstall. That did not work. I ran a check of all the add ons to see if they are up to date and they are. I even did a System Restore to no avail. Please help!!!

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.

If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

If you have submitted Breakpad crash reports then post the IDs of one or more Breakpad crash reports (bp-xxxxxxxx-xxxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx). You can find the IDs of the submitted crash reports on the about:crashes page. You can open the about:crashes page via the location bar, like you open a website.

Your Ask Toolbar is at least part of your problem. Someone may come along with specific removal advice; otherwise try the "Search Firefox Help" box above or Google.

thanks for the heads up but I don't even think Ask Toolbar is enabled. That said I will surely remove it and give it a try. I spent 2 hours last night banging my head against the wall with no results. Unfortunately I am at work right now and I can't try it yet but I will as soon as I get home.

I didn't even know FF had a profile. I don't recall ever even setting that up but I will surely do that when I get home. That said, fortunately I purchased a new laptop this past weekend and installed FF onto that computer and all of my bookmarks are there. The thing too is that I use Xmarks, FF Sync and Goodsync to manage my bookmarks and NONE of those are working. But I will take a look at the profile issue when I get home from work this afternoon. And keep my fingers crossed in the meantime that it works. I also use Roboform a LOT. It's an important part of how I use my computer and it's Roboform is also not showing up in FF 8.0. I cannot even see it in the View Options. So, though I can't imagine it will help, I am hoping that the profile issue will solve that problem too. thanks again for the reply.
