with private browsing as the default exempting a cookie from deletion upon firefox exit
I have private browsing as the default mode when using Firefox. I wish to have several cookies not deleted when Firefox is exited. I like that at that time it removes all the history, cookies etc. but there are a few sites that I use every time I use Firefox and do not want to go through the setup for those pages which is kept in their cookies. Thank you.

PB mode means that nothing is saved to disk, so you can't create cookies that last the current session.
In PB mode no access is possible to cookies that were created in regular mode and cookies created in PB mode are removed if PB mode is ended or Firefox is closed.
In PB mode all cookies are session cookies and expire when Firefox is closed, but you can still block or allow specific cookies based on the default setting.

Try using the CookieCuller extension . With it you can protect cookies from being deleted.

Thank you for your prompt and very clear explanation to my request. It appears if the cookies I wish to retain permanently are created in non PB mode and then return to permanent PB mode it might accomplish what I was trying to do.
Thank you again
Thank you for your prompt response. This extension is neat but it does not preserve the cookies through Private browsing shut down. It could allow me to select the cookies that I wish to permanently retain in non PM mode and the got into PB mode on the next firefox session. Thank you.
Firefox creates a new set of cookies if you switch to PB mode and cookies created in normal mode are not available during a PB mode session, so it is not possible to achieve what you want.
