Is there way to modify Firefox to prevent it from ever storing private information(history of downloads, sites visited, passwords, cookies, cached files, etc.) from the start...either through 'about.config' or some other way?

The default setting of Firefox seems to be to monitor, collect and store as much private info as possible...then leave it up to the individual to use 'clear recent history' (and/or third party tools) to erase such private info. I'm interested in any way to either reverse this default setting, or failing that, to eliminate the browsers ability to collect such info at all.
