hotmail opens as a blank page in firefox
Hello, I started having a problem opening hotmail a few days ago using firefox. When I click on www.hotmail.com it opens as a blank page with no error message. I can open it in IE but I don't use that browser as it is too slow for me. I have followed all suggestions including, clearing cookies, cache, plugins, downloaded latest version of firefox and I still can not open hotmail. Please can someone help me? Thank you

Hotmail and outlook, After login it redirects to a blank page and redirects to your home page(Inbox).
If you have slow connection, your able to see the blank page.
Check your connection.
Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache. Note: This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to. To clear cache and cookies do the following:
- Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
- Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
- Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
- From the details list, check Cache and Cookies and uncheck everything else.
- Now click the Clear now button.
Further information can be found in the Clear your cache, history and other personal information in Firefox article.

Thanks for that but the problem is when I have clicked on to www.hotmail.com the page shows up blank ( I do not get as far as signing in). I have also cleared cookies, cache etc. This problem occurs which ever url I click on to enter hotmails sign in page. Please can you advise further?

Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)
- You can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
- Or open the Help menu and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.
Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"
If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article for that.
To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.
When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.
Thanks again. I have worked out what the problem was. It has only taken me since 8am this morning!!!!! The date on my computer was incorrect as soon as I changed this I could enter hotmail in firefox.
However I now have a problem in that when I have followed different suggestions during the day to solve the issues files on my desktop have been lost. Please can you suggest how to restore computer files.
Make use of System Restore option
I have tried this but nothing showing up to restore. Files have been deleted from folders on my desktop. Can you suggest anything else please?
I cleared my cache and deleted all my outlook.com and live.com cookies. No change.
www.outlook.com is still blank.
I'm on Mac 10.6.8 Firefox version 19.0.2
There is a lot of JavaScript used on those pages, so make sure that you aren't blocking JavaScript.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
- Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

If clearing cookies doesn't work then it is possible that the cookies.sqlite file that stores the cookies is corrupted.
Rename (or delete) cookies.sqlite (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete other present cookie files like cookies.sqlite-journal in the Firefox Profile Folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted.
Nope, no change in safe mode, still blank. Do I really have to erase all my cookies to try to fix this?
You can try to switch to Private Browsing mode.
In PB mode you do not use the cookies from regular mode and also the disk cache is disabled.
Private browsing didn't work.
I finally got this site to show up by reseting Firefox. I lost all my plugins and their settings but at least I can now see my websites properly.
Thanks for the help.
This happens to me intermittently. Some days, I can login fine other days, all I get is a blank browser page. Works fine in Safari and Chrome. But all issues happen under Firefox. However, if I try enough times, and at some point just let the blank page just sit there (for as long as a couple of hours), Hotmail eventually loads up. Perhaps, just a coincidence. That an underlying issue that comes up from time to time, gets resolved with no notification to us. None of the tips have resolved this blank page issue, as well as not seeing the buttons at the top (ie. Reply, Forward, Delete, Archive, etc...) They get cut off. Only way to seem to view them is if you increase the font size in preferences, but then all the fonts in all webpages get huge. Also the AddThis plugin doesn't work well with the new Hotmail (Outlook.com). When you choose Hotmail as an email to send the link to (using AddThis), it takes you to an error page. Any other email client works AddThis fine. ie. AOL, Yahoo and Gmail.
Personally, I think this is a Microsoft issue with Outlook.com, that Firefox has not been able to address.
hi have fix this problem by updating java. go to the java website and check to make sure you have the latest version. if not download and problem goes away. Also disabling the addons one at a time until you find the offending piece of software and disabling it, works. However its most probaly not working due to java not being updated.
I had this same problem of blank pages trying to get my earthlink webmail. It happened right after Javascript updated. Mozilla and earthlink no longer cooperate. I can get earthlink on Internet Explorer just fine.
Mozilla and earthlink should get together and figure out why javascript is disrupting their service. I'd like to continue with Mozilla but it has to work with my earthlink email. No exceptions.
