Every time I try to update the latest version Adobe Flash, it fails to initialize, stops at 50%
Every time I turn on my computer, and as Firebox is my default with windows XP, I get a message that I should updated Adobe Flash as it is vulnerable. When I click on it, it says that Firefox has blocked versions 10 and below, so I click to update. I download the latest version, which is 11+ something, and I save it to download. Then I open the download in Firefox, and click on run. It starts running and stops at 50%, with a message, "failed to initialize." It is getting very frustrating! I have tried several times!
Also., I downloaded the latest version of firefox and ran that too. But, the 4.0 version shortcut is still on my desktop, and looks like that 4.0 is still running. What exactly is Firefox updating automatically? I don't get it!
Thanks!

hello adzuki45, you already appear to run the latest version of firefox, so this shouldn't be a cause for concern, maybe your desktop shortcut is just misnamed).
when there's a problem with installing flash, please see if it works with the full installer that is available at http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-windows.html#main-pars_header

Try to uninstall your old Shockwave Flash 11.1 r102 version and install the current Flash player version.
You can find the latest Flash player versions for Firefox on this page.
Thank you Philipp! My entire error message (even after clean re-install) was: "The application failed to initialize properly (OxcOOOO5). Click on OK to terminate the application." Re-creating the desktop shortcut on my Win 7 64-bit computer did the job so simply. MtMan
