It means there are plug-ins on the page set to "Ask to Activate". Click the plug-in icon on the left side of the address bar to control the settings for the current site. You can also right-click an empty area of the page and choose View Page Info, then Permissions, then configure the "Activate Plugins" option.
To control the default setting for a particular plug-in,
- Click the Firefox button or the Tools menu and choose Add-ons.
- Click the Plugins category on the left.
- On the right, change the plug-in status between "Always Activate", "Ask to Activate" or "Never Activate".
the symbol on the left when I click on said..block or allow...I said allow..did nothing different also does not tell me what plugin it is for.. I'm trying to look at and read on comcast when they show and have a story along with a picture of a camera also...means there's a video with it... this is what I cannot see,, these are on xfinity comcast
What's the link to the site?
The name of the plug-in should be in the message that pops up when you click the address bar icon. See the attached screenshot for an example.
this is not what comes up.. it says ..that adobe flash is enabled on xinfinty.comcast .net and the shows : block or continue to allow...I check allow.. nothing.. it is xfinity video on there home page that does not work,
what your showing here is not what comes when I click it..."it says that adobe flash is enabled on xfinity.comcast.com"..with a choice to either block or continue to allow..I allow and nothing changes ..so I'm still baffeled and still cannot look at the xfinity video's on there news page..any of it
You somehow have two versions of Flash Player and Shockwave Player installed. Perform clean installations as follows.
Flash Player
- From the following page, save the uninstaller somewhere handy, like the desktop.
- From the following page, save the installer for other browsers. If you also use Flash Player in Internet Explorer, also save the ActiveX version.
- Exit all applications.
- Run the uninstaller.
- In Windows Explorer, try to open the following folders. If they still exist, delete them manually.
-
C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash\
-
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash\
-
%AppData%\Adobe\Flash Player\
-
%AppData%\Macromedia\Flash Player\
-
- Restart your computer.
- Run the installer for other browsers.
- Run the ActiveX installer if you downloaded it.
Shockwave Player
Note that you shouldn't install Shockwave Player unless you know for a fact that you need it.
- From the following page, save the uninstaller, the full installer for Netscape, and the full installer for Internet Explorer if you also need it in that browser.
- Exit all applications.
- Run the uninstaller.
- Restart your computer.
- Run the installer for Netscape.
- Run the installer for Internet Explorer if you downloaded it.
