Any easy way to remove floating ads after they appear (i.e., not preventing them)?

Generally ads on web pages don't bother me. So I don't feel strongly to use ad-blocking software to prevent any or all kinds of ads. But I do mind ads that float on web pages because they often block the view.

Although some floating ads allow the user to close them, more pop-ups, or other types of nuisance, may appear after they are closed.

So, Is there any easy way (an add-on, perhaps) to remove the floating ads after they appear, and prevent them from generating more ads or showing themselves again when the page is reloaded?

Maybe something like "CTRL + Alt + left click" applied on the floating ads?

I don't want to disable scripts and Flash.

There are add-ons that do this, but they haven't been updated in a long time, so they might have problems.

I'd sooner recommend Adblock Plus, used as follows:

  1. Install Adblock Plus.
  2. Click the Adblock Plus toolbar icon and choose Filter Preferences.
  3. On the Filter Subscriptions tab, right-click each subscription and choose Delete. Now Adblock Plus isn't blocking anything.
  4. Install Element Hiding Helper for Adblock Plus.
  5. Now when you want to hide something on a web page, click the Adblock Plus toolbar icon and choose "Select an element to hide".
  6. If the web page preview looks acceptable, click the Add Element Hiding Rule button. For advanced usage, see the following pages.

I ended up with the 'Clean The Junk' add-on because it provides a 'one click away' solution which is even better than hotkey combination or context menu item. Nothing is simpler.

Only tick the 'IFrame' checkbox in the option dialogue of this add-on, and then you can remove all the floating ads with just one click on its toolbar icon .
