Thunderbird stopped downloading emails from my primary IMAP account through a normal ISP on Jan 27. After making sure that I had the correct password and all, I tried to 'REPAIR' the INBOX through the Thunderbird interface. When I looked at the filesystem, I found that the account had no INBOX file at all. When I clicked on 'REPAIR' for the other mailboxes for the same account, like the 'SENT' mailbox, I noticed that Thunderbird reset the filesize of the actual mailbox file to 2Kb. COMPLETELY EMPTIED IT!!!!!

MSF files are simply index files.

As for emptying folders, this is IMAP what part of synchronized needs to be explained. If you want it to show mail it must be able to synchronize with the server.

In your first sentence you say imap is broken. Fix the IMAP issue and the mail will download and the folders populate.

So what error messages does the "primary IMAP account" generate?
