How do you save messages in Thunderbird to your computer?
I want to save e-mail messages to my computer to be able to access even when I'm not logged into Thunderbird. Is this possible?

Yes, but its more easy if you use an addon ImportExportTools by Kaosmos. you can export indifferent format for ex. Html, PDF, .csv .eml
And you don't have to be logged in to your account to view downloaded mail in Tbird

Thank you for your response Gnospen!
I'm also getting an error message that says low disk space and so it won't download any new messages. I've deleted hundreds of emails and I still get the message. Any advice?
Did you empty your trash and compact your folders after deleting? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Thunderbird_:_Tips_:_Compacting_Folders
Most space is taken by attachments. saving them somewhere will keep a link instead of the whole attachment inside that email. Exporting with attachment in html to an external disk. setting up a local folder on a second disk is do-able, but not to recommend.
