Firefox/Android doesn't remember bookmark level when you go back

I use bookmarks for my browsing, and I've set things up to use the bookmarks as my home screen. So I start there and drill down the bookmarks folders to get where I want. But if I then use the back arrow, I end up back at the starting point, not at the drilled-down level. So I have to start all over again and drill down through the folders.

I want Firefox to remember where I was in the bookmarks heirarchy and take me back there. Is there any way to do this?

In a new tab, there is the title "Bookmarks" with an orange line under it. If you tap on a folder, within the folder there is a name at the top of the list that has an arrow and "Up to Desktop Bookmarks" or "Up to <previous folder name>".
