I'm using: Firefox 38.0.5 and Adobe acrobat reader DC on windows 7 (64bit). Can't download or view pdf files. When I click on pdf link sometimes blank tab opens, sometimes doesn't happen anything at all. If it's direct link to pdf file I can save file by clicking "Save link as", but if its some complex link with redirect(like google search result) it doesn't work. I think problem started with firefox update to version 38.

Does the built-in PDF Viewer work?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

Switched to built-in pdf viewer - same result. Switched to safe mode - built-in viewer works fine. Turning hardware acceleration off does not solve problem either. I'm using default theme.
