Have tried reinstalling & updating Thunderbird which worked last time this happened when using Windows 7 Pro. (now using Windows 10 Pro.) Have restarted and shut down / restarted PC to no avail. Calendar is listed in my drive programme file under Mozilla Thunderbird. Windows updated yesterday and completed on start up today which may or may not be relevant. Thunderbird e-mail works as it always has done.

Opening the Thunderbird file listed under Programmes shows 'calendar'

Not sure what you're talking about. Perhaps you can provide a screenshot? In any case the calendar resides in your Thunderbird profile folder, not in the program folder.

Lightning is not installed as I do not want it.

Interesting. Lightning *is* the Thunderbird Calendar extension.

If you want the calendar then you'll have to install Lightning, whether you like it or not. You can get it from AMO. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/lightning/

In case you're having difficulties to install it: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/lightning/

What does this mean? What is your 'drive programme file'?

Is Lightning listed in the Add-ons Manager - Extensions? What is the status? Can you provide a screenshot with the entry for Lightning visible? http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-create-screenshot-my-problem

The drive is where the programme is installed on the PC hard drive eg C drive. Opening the Thunderbird file listed under Programmes shows 'calendar' but it no longer appears when the Thunderbird programme is activated. Lightning is not installed as I do not want it.
