some weeks back [10-12] I received a Firefox error message. The content of the message went away but the white box remains on my desktop and over some applications - until I click on the background.

I very much want to get rid of it. Tried 10 times to upload a screen shot - as you requested - but your system would not allow me to do it. ignore the lower left box - just the all white one.

this was your last response to me:

Hi, this seems to be a graphics issue with your computer rather than with Firefox, but you can make sure that FF is completely closed: Open the 3-bar menu > Exit Firefox in bottom right corner.

You've probably done this, but try restarting your Mac. If that doesn't help, check for graphics driver updates and look at the graphics settings to see if there is anything you can tweak.

If your question is resolved by this or another answer, please take a minute to let us know. Thank you.

thanks - not sure what you mean by 3 bar menu but did exit and close Firefox and the machine but it did not clear the 'box'. Searched and can't find any graphics settings or driver info other than internet mentions of a faulty card - and mine was checked when this first happened and judged to be OK.

will attach the image one more time just in case that helps...again only the blank, upper box is the one in question.

thanks.

Try to rename/remove the xulstore.json file in the Firefox profile folder.

You can use this button to go to the current Firefox profile folder:

  • ~/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles/<profile>/

In Mac OS X v10.7 and later, the ~/Library folder is a hidden folder.
