How can I stop a new tab from opening when I click on a link in a list? In Amazon, when I click on an item in a search list, it now opens a new tab instead of just going straight to that link. This only started happening since the latest Firefox update. It does not happen in any other web browser. I have looked through the Firefox preferences and do not see how I can turn this feature off. Any help is much appreciated!

What kind of links are that?

If that are links that have an onclick handler attached then make sure that you do not block JavaScript because otherwise the href attribute is followed.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window
