Lost emails?
Last night, I moved all messages out of inbox (2K+) into a folder called "old". They have disappeared. Search yields nothing. Thunderbird 45.0, PC installation. Many were unread. Is there any way to undo this?

re: Inbox which originally had the emails Is the Inbox in an Imap or Pop mail account?
re : 'old' folder Is the 'old' folder in the same mail account or in 'Local Folders' mail account? Is 'old' a subfolder to Inbox or any other folder, if yes what is the folder name? Can you see the 'old' folder?
If you are talking about an imap mail account, have you subscribed to see the 'old' folder?
Thank you for replying! The "old" folder is a subfolder of my local inbox. I have done this before and it's been fine. The "old" folder now only shows emails I had moved there back in February, not the new 2k+ I just (tried to) move in.
check to see if this is because the index has not updated. Right click on the 'old' folder and select 'Properties' click on 'Repair folder' button click on OK
select another folder and reselect 'old' folder. Did emails appear ?
