I get notifications for email inside of thunderbird, but I would like email notifications ding and pop up on my desktop even before I open thunderbird. I have Windows 10, and I set the default mail as Thunderbird. Is there a way I can have desktop notifications?

Not too many programs work when they are not running. Thunderbird is one of them.

So, I suppose that I should open and minimize Thunderbird before I get an email notification, right?

I have Thunderbird set to "on" in the apps section and set to "default mail" in Windows 10, but not opened. So, it only notifies me on the desktop if I have it opened and minimized?
