What happens if the gmail account synced to Thunderbird is shut down?

I have downloaded Thunderbird and synced a gmail account to it. The gmail account is for a company I am leaving, so that gmail address will soon be shut down.

Will all my emails still be available on my system after the gmail address is shut down?

In Thunderbird, move all the e-mails from the Gmail "account" to the Local Folders "account". That will save them all permanently to your computer. In the process, they will be deleted from the Gmail server.
