I like the new tiles / tabs on home page but i would prefer them to be smaller and low on the page so they are not so "loud".

The big tiles are distracting and annoying.

I would just like it better if they were smaller. So they are available but more discreet.

"... new tiles / tabs on home page"

???

Do you have the NewTab page set as your HomePage??

If so, there are hidden prefs in about:config to set the number of rows and number of columns for how many tiles are to be displayed. browser.newtabpage.columns browser.newtabpage.rows

Or, you can zoom out on that page to have smaller tiles, with more rows and columns being displayed. Firefox should save that zoom setting.

Hi.

Thanks for that. It partially solves what I was hoping for.

I've changed it to one row and 5 columns at this stage which is good.

As for changing the size - when I zoomed, by pressing CTRL and scrolling mouse, it reduced the size of everything including the search bar. Plus it didn't lower the tiles to the bottom or lower on the page.

Sorry to be a pain. It's starting to sound like I'm being a bit precious. I can live with things how they are at the moment if needs be.

See this AMO search for new Tab extensions that meet your requirements.

Beyond that, if you are "fluent" with CSS you can modify the new Tab page by using a userContent.css file for about:newtab to move 'elements' around. Or Stylish can be used, too.

Here's a UserStyle that I created awhile ago to "fix" a new problem that came about with Firefox 39; which may help you with the bottom margin on the newTab page by getting rid of the bottom margin. https://userstyles.org/styles/116891/fx-39-new-tab-page-fix-for-tile-rows

Keep in mind that UserStyle also eliminates the top margin, too.
