Synchronizing contact edits over imap4
I've just gone through the long process of migrating from Windows Live Email 2011 (pop3) to Thunderbird (imap4). I have two Rogers email addresses on Yahoo, one desktop and one laptop - both Windows 7. I've installed Thunderbird on the desktop and laptop and have the email working, where all send/receive items are updated on the web, and two computers. HOWEVER, I can't get the address book feature to synchronize. I had been told by Rogers tech support that all email activity and contact edits would be 'mirrored' at all three. Now Rogers TechXpert tells me the contact sync'ing in NOT possible! In 'googling' the subject, it appears to me that it IS possible. Any suggestions? Bear in mind I'm not super-tech'y, but can follow instructions! I've downloaded the add-on 'addressbooks_synchronizer', but can't get it to work for me. Thank you.

Thanks Airmail, I've got it working, seems great. I had to work at getting the correct csv format for the initial upload. Also, I don't quite understand how to arrange/rename the contacts file in gmail, but it's working. I'll also see if I can figure out how to include my Android in this. Thanks again.

IMAP is an email protocol and does nothing with contacts or address books so the first tech support person needs to go back for more training. You can place your address book on a site like gmail and use an add on like gcontactsync to sync across multiple devices.
Thanks Airmail. That sound like a good idea. I had hoped to stay away from Google, but I do have a gmail acct I could use. Would I load the add-on in the Gmail setup? I likely won't have significant time to take this further until the weekend.
I have not used it but the instructions are on the add on page. You install the add on in Thunderbird.
