AOL wants me to update my security settings and they show a POP3 setting, but my Tbird only has a POP setting. What do I do?
I received the following email from aol. I'm using Tbird to download my email from my verizon.net account We hope you are enjoying your improved email experience since switching to AOL. We are committed to protecting the privacy and security of our customers so we're writing to inform you that your current third party email application is not using the latest, secure mail connection settings. In order to continue sending and receiving your verizon.net mail via your third party email application, you must update your connection settings by November 7, 2017.
the directions show I should be using a POP3 connection. TBird shows a POP connection. Is this a POP3 connection and so I don't need to do anything? or will I no longer be able to use Tbird to download my email after 11/7/17?

What exactly do they want you to change? POP and POP3 means the same thing.

POP and POP3 are effectively interchangeable names for the same thing, an email transfer protocol.
There used to be an early version of POP which we might now think of as "POP1", but it is so long ago that it was used that we can safely assume anyone saying POP means POP3.
Of course you need to change your setting to match the new ones. They may use the terms "pop" or "pop3" in the server name, in which case you must use exactly what they give you.
I would guess from the tone of the message that they are introducing some email security such as using TLS or SSL, with an encrypted connection. That will probably mean, amongst other things, changing the port number to 995 and enabling the relevant security/encryption/authentication settings.
The incoming email server name should be pop.verizon.net. The connection security should be SSL/TLS and this connection security will automatically put the port as 995.
The outgoing email server name should be smtp.verizon.net. The security connection should be changed from SSL/TLS to STARTTLS and this will automatically change the port from 465 to 587.
So all we have to do with this problem is to change the port to 995 and 465?
Please help.

Where do I go to do this?
This is what I need to know:
How do make the migration from Verizon to AOL please? What do I need to do for the Verizon move to AOL mail?

So we just make these changes? THANK YOU.
