how can I ADD entries to saved password list. I am missing an SMTP entry. I have 2 accounts in thunderbird but only one has both imap and smtp. I have gmail account.

Just use it. If Thunderbird discovers it needs a password it doesn't know, it will ask you for the required password.

In your position, I'd double-check that you have two smtp "accounts" (or "servers"), one for each incoming gmail account.

Thunderbird will allow you to set up a second gmail account using an existing gmail account's smtp server, but using it will swap the "from:" address to the address belonging to the first gmail account.

You can add an additional smtp server under

Tools|Account Settings|Outgoing Server (SMTP).

Then you'll need to review the Outgoing Server (SMTP) setting in each of the incoming accounts to select the appropriate outgoing server.
