When I start Firefox I get a pop up as to how I want to open Firefox; safe mode or to continue. When I tell it to continue, the same pop up appears. I have no choice but to open it in safe mode. I have Firefox set to open a new tab when I click on a link, but, instead, it opens a completely new window. If I open a tab to go to another website I am unable to close the tab when I am finished with it. Is it Firefox or something on my end? I do not have a Windows program set up, yet.

You can check the target line in the Firefox desktop shortcut (right-click: Properties) to make sure nothing is appended after the path to the Firefox program.
