If I am on a website with many links and I use middle-mouse click to open each in a new tab the previous behaviour was that if I middle clicked links 1, 2, 3 then the tabs would be organised from left to right after the current tab in the order 1, 2, 3 but now the order is 3, 2, 1.

What setting do I need to change to get back the old behaviour and why is the browser changing in this way?

Platform: windows 10, using firefox dev edition.

I just applied the latest patch and the behaviour has reverted to the original, thanks I guess.

There are these two prefs on the about:config page.

  • browser.tabs.insertAfterCurrent
  • browser.tabs.insertRelatedAfterCurrent

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I accept the risk!" to continue.
